HIKIKOMORI

Jonathan Harris [2008]
Duration: 4 min

“Hikikomori” is a social condition prevalent in Japan, where young people, unable to cope with social and academic pressures, shut themselves in their rooms for months, even years. Yasuo Yamamoto did not go out in almost a year. Yet even as his condition worsens, someone still cares for him.

TIO TOMÁS

Regina Pessoa [2019]
Duration: 13 min

From Regina’s personal and visual memories, a tribute to her uncle Thomas, a humble man with a simple and anonymous life. This is my acknowledgment how one does not have to be somebody to become exceptional in our life.

THE FLY

Ferenc Rofusz [1981]
Duration: 3 min

The film tells the story of a fly, which falls into a large garden on an autumn day. The fly is fleeing because the occupant of the house wants to hit her. During the few minutes of the story, the viewer sees the world through the eyes of the fly, describing it from the insect’s point of view, until the inhabitant of the house hits it and the buzz suddenly ceases.

HOW TO KISS

Bill Plympton [1988]
Duration: 6 min

As a brave couple demonstrates, the narrator uses quotes, examples and advice to help us all reach the highest heights in the art of kissing.

YOUR FACE

Bill Plympton [1987]
Duration: 3 min

This 1988 Academy Award nominee is the film that set the style and started the career of Bill Plympton. One of the most profitable short films ever made, it’s still showing all over the world. As a second-rate crooner sings about the beauties of his lover’s face, his own face metamorphosizes into the most surreal shapes and contortions possible. The music was written and sung by Maureen McElheron.
